Favorite Political Song?

Wed Mar 26, 2008 12:04 am by BrianEschen

Anyone have a favorite political song to share?

One of my favorites is entitled "Old Abe Lies Sick in Bed." *WARNING* Song may be upsetting for Lincoln lovers.

Old Abe lies sick, old Abe lies sick, old Abe lies sick in bed . . . He's a lying dog, he's a crying dog with murder in his head . . .
verse 2: Jeff Davis rides a big fine horse Abe Lincoln r...

Imperialism, or Manifest Destiny

Mon Dec 03, 2007 12:23 am by John Locke

What is the role of the United States of America on the world stage in this age?
There are those who think that we should spread democracy, there are others who believe we should liberate oppressed nations. This forum is established to facilitate discussion from a Christian perspective, so the question needs to be asked, should faith and politics be mixed?
To look specifically at Ira...

gun control

Mon Dec 03, 2007 11:02 pm by 89whiteandnerdy

2nd Amendment to the Constitution: The Right to Bear Arms
A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

This seems pretty straightforward to me. What argument do the gun control supporters have that would overpower this? Why do they think they are right and can win?

Should Congress be allowed to handicap the war effort by 1)holding needed funds in check, and 2)seeking to force the President to pull troops out?

"A nation divided against itself cannot stand."

"Moderate Muslims"

Fri Feb 15, 2008 5:28 pm by BrianEschen

Here is an interesting article that I came across today. I think it would be instructive for our country. Perhaps we could get comments from across the "pond" as well. Let me know what you think. Is this something the government should get involved in? If so, how? Should this be a wake up call for the church? What strategies should we use in ministering to Muslims? Cheers!

Amendments

Fri Dec 14, 2007 10:34 am by CheeseKing

You are a congressman. The congress is now filled with people who love God and the constitution. affraid The president, another God-fearing, constitution-loving man supports you all the way. You propose to overturn some amendments and add some of your own. Which ones would you like to have removed and which ones would you like to add? (You can list up to 5 of each)

Thoughts on the Iowa Debate

Thu Dec 13, 2007 5:02 pm by BrianEschen

I have the pleasure of being in Iowa this week. The "public" television station (better described as a station supported by money stolen from taxpayers) hosted a GOP debate. It was hosted by the Des Moines Register which is a very anti Christian newspaper. The format was atrocious. I thought debate used to mean that the candidates would interact with eachother. In this one the moder...
