The Economy

Without destroying our economy and state, can we sustain our present level of government spending in foreign aid, domestic programs, Social Security, Medicare, welfare, foreign presence in the Middle East, South America, South Pacific, Asia, Europe, Africa, etc etc?

If we can't (look at the price of gold), which should we drop first, our foreign influence or those reliant on the government domestically? Would you rather kick your neighbor out of his house and onto the street, or would you ...

General Election

Who are you voting for in the general election?

I'm undecided - I don't like either of the candidates running, and am quite inclined to believe that it may not even matter which one is elected...though McCain would probably be better than Obama, but it's hard to say. I would find it very difficult to actually vote for McCain. It would be more of a voting against Obama. I'm more inclined toward a write-in/third party candidate but I'm undecided as of yet.

2nd Amendment to the Constitution: The Right to Bear Arms

A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

This seems pretty straightforward to me. What argument do the gun control supporters have that would overpower this? Why do they think they are right and can win?

Has anyone else seen this movie? My family went to see it last evening and found it very enlightening. The most shocking thing was how people who didn't even want to take sides, just discuss evolution vs. intelligent design, are treated so horribly! I though it was bad, but I never realized it was *that* bad. It is sad how our freedoms are beeing taken away without us even paying attention. Overall, I found it a well-done, though-provoking movie (though some of the shaky camera work was distracting, ...

There are many definitions.

Terrorism: government or resistance to government by means of terror.

Terror: a person or thing that is especially annoying or unpleasant.

(Random House Webster's College Dictionary)

By picking and choosing these definitions, I could aim the war on terror to many things. A war on terror is a war on an idea, an idea that will continue on. By waging war on an idea, can we simply invade any country to follow the idea as far as it runs? We might as well ...

Around the time of the founding of this nation, a man named George Mason from Virginia said "by an inevitable chain of causes and effects, providence punishes national sins by national calamities." He said this concerning slavery and it has proven true seeing a tyrannical president that waged war against the Southern States. In concern to slavery, the bible does not forbid slavery, but it does have restrictions on it. Scripture speaks of a Year of Jubilee. It is believed that many owners ...

If we use up all our volunteers, they will draft the 18-25 year-olds to fight in any conflict the government wants us to fight in. The war could be unjust, we could have no supplies, I might be placed in a position where I could most certainly die for a useless cause. By signing such a document, I am allowing myself to be government property whenever the government ...

One of the many happy jobs of Congress is to impeach the federal violaters of the Constitution. They succeded in ousting some odd federal judges (they should have taken Blackmun when they had the chance) and impeached two presidents. The first was Andrew Johnson, our 17th president, famous for being drunk in Abe's 2nd Inaugurable ceremony. As horrible as that sounds, he was a better president than ole' Abe, trying to protect the South from the wicked radical congress of the day. Congress impeached ...
