Re: Ronald Reagan
Yes/Yes
1. Good actor
2. Had a sense of humor (I'll expound on this later)
3. Policies (this one'll require some research, I don't know many particulars)

Yes/Yes
He was a man of sound judgement and an excellent leader. I doubt our country will ever have another good president anything like him.
I seriously doubt our country will still exsist in the year 2100.

Re: Ronald Reagan
I liked Reagan because he was from California. He used defense instead of offensive war to stand down the communists (who were by the way comparable to today's terrorists). In '89 the walls came crumbling down. He had numerous funny one-liners. Ron Paul uses the example of when Reagan sent troops into Iran, saying that he would never back down. Months later he pulled them out saying that he did not understand the senseless nature of fighting a war over there. Defense became more important to him and history proves the wisdom in this.
The problem I have with him is the fact that he gave us baby-killer judges. God definitely used him to oppose the communist threat though.
I have great hopes though that our country WILL be around in 2100 because of young people like those on this forum. As God's people start seeking His face and repenting of our humanist ways, like the younger generation is doing, He will heal our land.

Re: Ronald Reagan
If our country does not see a revival in this generation, I fear this nation won't last another 40-50 years.
The trans-racial unity, Christian moralism and protestant work-ethic that got us through the Great Depression and both World Wars is long gone.
I have met dozens of soldiers coming back from Iraq, and I must say their mindset scares and saddens me.
However an interesting thing I have noticed, every US Marines I have met has exhibited a very admirable attitude, in contrast to the other branches.

Re: Ronald Reagan
I have hope for this nation. I will die for that hope, if neccesary. It could be my view of eschatology. Christians are mad and there are more of us than ever before. The lukewarmers will turn back or face the destruction. God's faithful to stand mightily. We keep the nation in our prayers and never lose hope. God is there for us and will grant us the strength neccesary to persevere.

I like and miss Ronald Reagan.
He kept a jar of jelly beans on his desk. What's not to like about that?!
But seriously, he was one of the best recent presidents.

Re: Ronald Reagan
I really don't know much about Ronald Reagan. Basically all I have heard is that he was a great president but he increased spending and appointed some bad judges. I haven't heard much specifically about good policies he had. This forum is about the only place I've heard these particulars. I was born in '89 so all I can go on is hear say and I haven't even heard much of that. So I think I like him but I'm not sure why.

Re: Ronald Reagan
Same deal here, Greenleaf. I'm a youngin who knows too little of our past. Yes, he did appoint some very liberal judges, though he expressed his regrets later. One of his best things, I think, was his boldness. He didn't let the Commies walk all over him and without firing a shot, he helped in ending the Cold War. I like him for modeling his presidency after Calvin Coolidge, one of our early godly Presidents, seeking to decrease government and remove the government from the economy and what not, cutting down stupid regulations. That's what sticks out in my head... Mr. Eschen should really tell us all about Mr. Reagan. You've been around forever haven't you?

Re: Ronald Reagan
I think that although not perfect, Reagan was an awesome president who revitalized dynamic conservatism.
