Minumum wage: yea or nay?
Should the government control what businesses pay their employees?
It's a crazy stupid idea, if you ask me. If a business wants to hire someone for x amount of money, and someone wants to work for x amount, why not let him? But no! The government says, you can't hire someone for that low amount of money! He, whether he knows it or not, needs more! So they heap a killer minimum wage, which prevents a lot of people from being hired. I mean, if you could hire someone unskilled for a few bucks an hour, and that person wants to work for that, why not let him? But if you don't have enough money to pay the minimum wage for that particular area, you have to get a more skilled worker who can do more things. But it hurts the economy and makes restaurants like BK have to turn down a good number of people. So that's what I say...

Amen! All minimum wage does is destroy jobs. It creates over worked employees and fewer jobs.
Down with minimum wage!
Down with minimum wage!

"The laborer is worthy of his hire."
I believe that the government should not have any control over wages, but that the employer should pay each employee what is just and right based on their diligence and character.

Re: Minumum wage: yea or nay?
I read something the other day that raised a question in my mind: apparently minimum wage was instituted to keep skilled workers in the US workforce. This is a valid concern because of the numbers of workers that go to other countries just because they get paid more. In light of this issue, is minimum wage a good idea?
Re: Minumum wage: yea or nay?
That information is incorrect. The US and Europe are an enormous draw of skilled workers. Doctors, engeniers and the like are leaving Africa, India etc. and for better pay and better conditions here.
